  • 3/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 2/3 cup sour cream or plain yogurt
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
  • Canola oil (for frying)
  • 4 1/2 cups powdered sugar (sifted)
  • 2 teaspoons light corn syrup or golden syrup
  • 1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/4 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/4 cup hot water

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the cake flour, baking powder, salt, nutmeg, and pumpkin pie spice.
  2. In another bowl, cream the butter and sugar until fluffy. Add egg yolks one at a time.
  3. Mix in sour cream and pumpkin puree until combined.
  4. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients until just mixed.
  5. Roll out dough on a floured surface to about an inch thick and cut into doughnut shapes.
  6. Heat canola oil in a deep pan over medium heat and fry doughnuts until golden brown.
  7. Prepare glaze by mixing powdered sugar, corn syrup, salt, pumpkin pie spice, pumpkin puree, vanilla extract, and hot water. Dip warm doughnuts into the glaze.
