Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb flank steak or skirt steak
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon peanut oil (or vegetable oil)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup chicken stock
  • 2 tablespoons apple juice
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dark soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar
  • 1 head broccoli, cut into bite-sized florets
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 teaspoons ginger, minced

Instructions

  1. Slice the beef against the grain into thin strips. In a bowl, combine with soy sauce, peanut oil, and cornstarch; marinate for 10 minutes.
  2. In another bowl, mix chicken stock, apple juice, soy sauce, dark soy sauce, brown sugar, and cornstarch to create the sauce.
  3. Steam broccoli in boiling water for about one minute until tender, then set aside.
  4. Heat peanut oil in a skillet. Cook marinated beef until browned on one side (about 30 seconds), then flip briefly.

  6. Return broccoli to the skillet, pour in the sauce, and stir until thickened (about one minute). Serve hot.
