  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyère or Swiss cheese
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, garlic, onion powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper until combined. Form into 1-inch meatballs.
  2. Sauté sliced onions in olive oil and butter until caramelized. Push to one side of the skillet.
  3. Brown the meatballs in the skillet for 5-7 minutes.
  4. Sprinkle flour over the mixture; add beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer gently.
  5. Top with shredded Gruyère cheese; cover until melted before serving.
