  • 100g dark brown sugar
  • 110g vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 140g sour cream
  • 100g butter (for buttercream)
  • Salted caramel sauce

Instructions

  1. Prepare the homemade salted caramel sauce by heating granulated sugar and water until amber. Stir in butter, heavy cream, and salt.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and allspice in one bowl.
  3. In another bowl, combine both sugars, grated apples, vegetable oil, eggs, sour cream, and vanilla extract; whisk until smooth.
  4. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  5. Pour batter into a greased pan and bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. For the buttercream, beat room temperature butter with powdered sugar until fluffy; add caramel sauce and vanilla.
  7. Once the cake has cooled completely, frost with the buttercream and drizzle with additional salted caramel.
