  • 300 g all-purpose flour
  • 60 g granulated sugar
  • 220 g unsalted butter (cold)
  • 1 kg apples (Pink Lady, Royal Gala or Fuji)
  • 190 g brown sugar
  • 1¼ tsp ground cinnamon
  • Vanilla ice cream (for serving)
  • 1¼ tbsp cornstarch
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2½ tbsp water
  • 5 tbsp almond flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Prepare the crust by mixing flour, sugar, and salt. Add cold butter and blend until crumbly. Gradually add cold water until dough forms. Chill for at least 30 minutes.
  2. For the filling, melt butter in a pan, add sliced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, cornstarch, salt, and water. Cook until apples are tender.
  3. Roll out the dough and place it in a pie dish. Fill with apple mixture and sprinkle with almond flour.
  4. Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 60–80 minutes or until golden brown.
  5. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
